It shouldn’t be about the prizes, they are cool, but they are icing on the filmmakers cake! The fact that you took part and made an original science fiction film in a weekend should be prize enough – well done!!!
All that said, we award three prizes for the challenge – 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. There is a shortlist of ten films picked from all the entries, and we may pick another selection of films for ‘special mention’ – these are usually films that looked great but made no sense, had ridiculous props or costumes, something special…
The wonderful people at CAVE ACADEMY are offering us a selection of prizes including a course designed to give you the skills to acquire industry-standard data for Visual Effects, Feature Animation and Games.
This course focuses on the process and workflows to capture onset reference, such as capturing HDRIs and photogrammetry to shooting lens grid shoots and data wrangling, for the purposes of recreating believable digital assets and environments.
Creature Bionics, in association with University of Portsmouth, are giving us some hands-on, intense courses in acting and performance for film and gaming, using state of the art MoCap, giving them the latest industry standard.
Winners have the chance to also learn all about extensions performance, using ‘long limbs’ like in Planet of the Apes.
Take a look at CreatureBionics.com for all the courses on offer.
Our long-standing support from Adobe UK will again allow us to offer our winners free licences for Adobe Creative Cloud.
Access to some of the best creative software on the planet!
The sci-fi-london 48hr film challenge was started in 2008 and has had over 1400 short films made since then. The quality of the films created is amazing and proves that you can make engaging science fiction films on a low-to-no budget. Thank you to all those who have taken part.
The 2022 Title Card must be at the start of your film!!!
